Aprigo and Spiceworks Partner to Deliver Improved Network Share Visibility and Security to 1.2 Million IT Professionals

WALTHAM, Mass. (October 21, 2010) – Aprigo, the only company to deliver on-demand software for unstructured data governance, today announced a partnership with Spiceworks(TM) to provide the 1.2 million IT professionals using the new Spiceworks 5.0 social IT management application with new ways to audit permissions and improve security of shared files on their networks. Aprigo CEO Gil Zimmermann will present more details on the partnership during his breakout session today in Austin, Texas at 2:45pm CT at the third annual Spiceworks user conference: SpiceWorld 2010.

“Until now, it was difficult for the small business IT pro to audit permissions,” said Scott Abel, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks. “With Aprigo and Spiceworks, they now can view detailed data about file permissions in real-time, limit data vulnerabilities, streamline access rights management, and track changes to sensitive data with alerts and daily summaries.”

The recently released Spiceworks 5.0 IT management application includes a new feature that monitors basic information about the current state of network shares for servers, laptops and desktops. Aprigo will offer Spiceworks users enhanced management and security capabilities through the Aprigo NINJA application in order to help prevent unauthorized access to network shares. Spiceworks users can access a free trial of Aprigo NINJA, which includes data governance and storage capacity management, by clicking the “Learn More” link in the Network Shares tab in Spiceworks.

“Our relationship with Spiceworks enables Aprigo to extend the functionality and reach of our on-demand software, which allows IT managers to rest easy knowing their data environment is secure,” said Gil Zimmermann, Aprigo’s CEO. “Data is a moving target on the network, and since IT professionals are already using Spiceworks to understand things like inventory and monitoring, it was a logical extension for Aprigo to provide high-level storage utilization and access management functionality to Spiceworks users. Our partnership lets Spiceworks users easily transition to the full version of Aprigo NINJA to really understand effective permissions, audit data, and analyze capacity to take action.”

Aprigo NINJA is also available for Google Docs. For more information on Aprigo NINJA or Aprigo NINJA for Google Docs, call (781) 996-4332 or visit http://www.aprigo.com or the Google Apps Marketplace.
